The making of .........

An English version between the pictures

Last week I watched the movie Avatar. It is a fantasy film with a theme that unfortunately still is very topical: greed! For those who don't know the film (2009) is here a very brief summary.

A group of scientists has traveled to the planet Pandora in order to obtain valuable mineral resources. The planet is inhabited by the Na'vi, who  -to protect them against dangerous animals- are living in a large tree, that just stands above the minerals. The scientists decide to destroy the whole community, so that they can dig up the minerals. In the end, everything turns out reasonable well .

The story of the film is fascinating, but my admiration goes to the beautiful landscapes and fantasy animals on the planet. There is for example a very large sacred, enchanting, lit, pink weeping willow tree, where the Na'vi pray to their gods and talk with their ancestors

Regular readers of my blog know that I'm often in the local botanical garden. When I was there recently, I suddenly saw something that reminded me of the pink tree from the movie. I would only have to change the colors. Unlike my other photos the last three pictures are edited. I have had a lot of fun to create this post. Although the film inspired me, the pictures have eventually become a free interpretation of the theme.

Last week I had little time for shooting. I have made a digital photo book "The Fascinating Nature" containing my best pictures. A time consuming job and I'm not done yet with filling it. Those who want to take a look can click HERE.

Thank you all for your comments and kind words on my previous post. I really appreciate that you regularly find some time to leave your comment. I know from experience that it takes a lot of time. Thanks again.

Groetjes/Greetings from the Netherlands, Joke
