Daar waar ik woon ........

An English version after the first picture

The place where I live

Throughout the year I often make bike rides through the polders around our house. Winter, spring, summer, autumn ...... every season has its charm.

I love the beautiful surroundings where I live. Where I can enjoy the breathtaking views, the great sunrises and sunsets, the breeze blowing through the ripe wheat, the scent of cut grass, the honking geese flying over .........

Sometimes the scenery is lovely, beautifully lit by the sun. Then again threatening with dark gray clouds and a stormy wind that makes biking a struggle.

As a photographer you don't get bored here. Landscape photography is next to macro one of the things I like to do most. In the near future I intend to pay more attention to this part of photography and to find out if my camera provides me here the sharpness I would like to see. Of course, I continue to shoot macro, but it's time for a new challenge.

Cow Photo Shoot".

Inmiddels zijn de tulpen gekopt. De weilanden zijn weer groen.

Thanks to all my friends abroad for your enormous amounts of spontaneous, nice comments and praising words on my last blog.

Meanwhile the tulips are dead headed. The meadows are green again.

Koeien Fotoshoot ....... Cow Photo Shoot

In my previous post I showed pictures of the bulb fields near my house. Of course I couldn't resist the temptation to take more pictures.

Leuk!

I often go for a little while to the fields. On one of those days the owner of the land -also owner of a farm shop and a large farm with prize-winning cows-  comes to see me. The day after there will be an inspection of a number of cows, followed by a cow photo shoot. A photographer, who is specialized in photographing cows, will do the shoot. I am also invited. Great!

After the inspection the cows, beautifully washed and brushed shiny, will be brought to the bulb fields where the shoot will take place. Last week they practiced to get them used to the routine. Apart from some guests there are a dozen people walking along with the cows, attendants and assistants to the photographer.

Since the photos are for a trade magazine the cow must be exactly in the right position. The cow, however, has a different opinion and it's quite a hassle -what is she big and strong - to maneuver her betwéén and not ín the tulip fields. The head must be upwards for the picture, but for the cow the tulips are actually much more interesting. A radio with cow sounds helps and the first photos can be taken.

The sky is gray-white, the light very bright, the cows are black and white. It is now one o'clock and the sun is peeping through the clouds. The whole scene is immediately heavily overexposed. Poor photoghrapher! What a misery.

Meanwhile, I also take pictures, but I want them more artistic. After all, my photos are not for the magazine. I struggle with the light conditions, but finally I have selected a few photos I find good enough for this blog. There is no chance to do it over, because this combination of tulips and cows is unique.

To those who see pictures of cows in trade magazines I can say that these are definitely not "press the button" photos, but that a whole group of people worked very hard for it.
